Peak Design Launches 4 New Travel Bags on Kickstarter: Travel Backpack 2-in-1, Weekender, 20L & Crossbody

Peak Design is back on Kickstarter — for the 16th time — and this time with four brand new travel bags that expand the popular Travel Line. The campaign launches today, March 3, 2026, offering early access with significant discounts for backers.

CEO and founder Peter Dering sums up the vision behind the launch: “We designed these bags for real travel, the kind where you’re moving from airports to city streets and tackling long days on the go.”

My Thoughts

Peak Design continues to impress with thoughtful solutions for travelers and photographers alike. The Weekender 25L, the 20L Backpack, and the Crossbody 3L all look like solid additions to the Travel Line — clean, functional, and built with the same attention to detail I’ve come to expect from Peak Design.

However, I have to be honest about the Travel Backpack 2-in-1 — while the modular concept is genuinely innovative, I think it looks a bit odd with the double water bottle pockets. That design choice kind of breaks with the clean, streamlined aesthetic that has defined Peak Design’s other bags, particularly the original Travel Backpack. It gives the 2-in-1 a slightly bulkier, more utilitarian look that doesn’t quite match the refined design language of the rest of the lineup.

I suspect they went with dual water bottle pockets as a weight-saving compromise — by using stretchy external pockets instead of integrating storage internally, they can keep the pack lighter while still offering the capacity people need for a full travel day. It makes sense from an engineering standpoint, but aesthetically, it’s a trade-off that I’m not entirely sold on.

That said, the core idea of a 34L main pack with a zip-off 16L daypack is brilliant for one-bag travel. If you can look past the design departure, the functionality here is hard to beat — especially with full Camera Cube compatibility for photographers.

The fact that all the bags are made from recycled, weatherproof materials and designed to work seamlessly with Peak Design’s existing accessory ecosystem makes the transition easy for those who already own Peak Design products.
